BABSON PARK, Fla. - Stevenson Women's Beach Volleyball won both matches today at Webber International University, besting Barry University 4-1 and the hosting Warriors 3-2.
In the first match against the Buccaneers, The first, second, third, and fifth flights earned victories. Taylor Jones and Nicolette Fuglestad went three sets, winning the first and third 21-16 and 18-16. Maddie Clouser and Hannah Naja only needed two sets to defeat their opponents, going 21-14 and 21-11. In the third flight, Caleigh Bernota and Sima Kahoussi allowed only 18 points against, winning both sets 21-9. Fifth flight Olivia Simon and Sam Simmers allowed just three points against in the first set, winning the second 21-16.
The second match saw a closer battle between Stevenson and Webber, but the Mustangs ultimately pulled ahead for their tenth victory of the season.
Maddie Clouser and Hannah Naja earned a crucial 2-0 victory in sets of 21-18 and 21-14 while Miranda Mueck and Giulia Viglietta also won 2-0 with 22-20 and 21-19 finals.
The fifth flight of Olivia Simon and Sam Simmers went three sets, going the distance to defeat their Warrior opponents 15-6 in the third set after a 21-18 first-set win.Â
In exhibition, Makala Thompson and Scarlett Dunn won their two sets 21-5 and 21-14.
With two matches left in their spring break trip, the Mustangs stand at 10-3 overall. Their final opponents of the Florida trip are Florida Southern College and Palm Beach State College and their matchups are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th.
