Mustangs A&T drop season opener by a close margin

CALDWELL, N.J. – Stevenson acrobatics & tumbling dropped their season opener to Caldwell University by a 0.845 margin on Saturday afternoon. The final score was 190.115-189.270.
 
The Mustangs continued to show improvement in the Acro event, finishing on top in the six-element competition with a 6.350 final score to the Cougars' 4.600. The Mustangs came close to the Cougars in the seven-element heat of the Acro event, finishing with a 7.550 to their 8.550.
 
In the pyramid event, the Mustangs topped the Cougars in the synchronized heat with a 7.800 finish.
 
In the tumbling event, the Mustangs excelled in the trio pass heat with a 4.650 score. They went on to finish the event closely in the open pass heat with an 8.350 score to their opponents' 8.500.
 
The Mustangs have reinstated their participation in the team event and scored the highest in program history, finishing on top of the Cougars with a 64.670 score to their opponents' 50.940.
