NEWTOWN, Pa. – Eight members of the Stevenson University football team were named to the 2024 All-Middle Atlantic Conference football team on Tuesday morning by the conference office.
The team was made up of players that were nominated by their coaches, who then voted on the team but could not vote for their own players.
Five members of the Mustangs were named to the first-team, while one was named second-team and two named Honorable Mention.
In addition,
Dillon Johnson was named as the Rookie of the Year in the conference.
Named to the first-team were wide receiver
Deion Richardson, returner
Devon Grant, offiensive lineman
Alex Aviles, linebacker
Clarence Travis and special teams standout
Daryus Henderson.
Linebacker
Gavin Shields was named second-team, while Johnson and tight end
Kyle Guerreiro were named Honorable Mention.
Richardson led the MAC in yards per game with 96 yards per game, finishing the regular season with 44 catches which was fifth-best in the conference.
Grant averaged 23.7 yards per return, tied for third best in the MAC.
Aviles was part of an offensive line that amassed 3,439 yards of total offense on the sason, including 1,539 on the ground.
Travis had a total of 69 tackes on the season, eighth best in the MAC.
Henderson was a key player on special teams, including a blocked kick that preserved a 21-20 win over Delaware Valley back in Week 3.
Shields had 53 tackles and three sacks, which ranked him eighth best in the conference.
Johnson ranked fourth in the MAC in receptions with 51, with his 45.8 yards per game tenth in the conference.
Guerreiro had seven catches for 82 yards and one score this season, fourth best on the squad.
Stevenson finished the regular season with a 5-5 mark and 5-4 in the MAC. The Mustangs will participate in the ECAC Scotty Whitelaw Bowl on Saturday against SUNY-Morrisville.
