MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Stevenson women's beach volleyball squad grabbed two wins during their second day in Georgia on Saturday morning. The Mustangs notched a 5-0 against East Texas Baptist and a 3-2 victory over Berry.
In flight #1 against East Texas Baptist,
Shannon Baily and
Taylor Jones slotted a 21-18 and 21-12 win.
Rileigh Kimball and
Miranda Mueck followed in the second pairing winning both sets with scores od 21-12 and 21-11. In the third set,
Nicolette Fuglestad and
Makala Thompson grabbed a 21-12 win in the first set and 21-16 win in the second. In flight #4,
Hannah Naja and
Maddie Clouser grabbed 21-13 and 12-8 victories.
Caleigh Bernota and
Sam Simmers sat in the fifth flight, grabbing 21-13 and 21-8 wins. In exhibition,
Sarah Straub and
Abby Bruce grabbed two wins with scores of 21-8 and 21-7.
Against Berry, Baily and Jones fought to a third set to win the match up in the first flight, 2-1. In the second flight, Kimball and Mueck also battled to three sets, winning set two 21-13 and set three 15-10 for the 2-1 win. Fuglestad and Thompson fell in the third pairing, but Clouser and Naja came out on top in the fourth flight with a 2-1 win in three sets. In flight #5, Bernota and Simmers fell in a hard fought three flights. In exhibition, Bruce and Straub came out on top in both sets with scores of 21-19 and 21-11.
The Mustangs will be back in action on Saturday as the team travels to Lynchburg, Va. for a tri-match. The squad will face Lynchburg at 2 p.m.
