NEWTOWN, Pa. – A total of 11 Stevenson University football players were named to the 2023 All-Middle Atlantic Conference team on Tuesday afternoon.
The team was selected by the head coaches in the conference, who nominated their own players and then voted on the players, not being permitted to vote for their own players.
Four Mustangs garnered first-team honors, as senior wide receiver
Pat Gorman, junior lineman
Ben Blum, junior defensive lineman
Daniel Johnson and senior returner
Justin Rutkowski were all selected.

Zachary Rutsch, junior linebacker
Gavin Shields were named to the second-team.

Tylor Blake, junior offensive lineman
Alex Laboy, junior linebacker
Clarence Travis and senior defensive back
Marvin Manassa were named honorable mention.
Blum, Aviles and Laboy were all part of an offensive unit that led the Middle Atlantic Conference in yards per game at 356.4 and ran a conference best 691 plays for 3564 yards. The offensive unit also had 27 touchdowns in the red zone, tops in the MAC.
Gorman was second in the conference in receiving yards per game at 77.3. He had a conference best 57 receptions and was second in the league in yards at 773. He had a season-best 135 yards receiving against Delaware Valley and caught a season-high nine passes against Eastern.
Johnson was third on the team in tackles with 48 and had 9.5 tackles for losses of 36 yards. He had a season-best seven tackles in a win over Alvernia.
Rutkowski led the MAC in kick return yardage at 723, averaging a conference-best 24.1 yards per return. His 30 returns were second-best in the league. He had 200 yards in kick returns against Lebanon Valley, with a long of 61 yards against Albright.
Rutsch averaged 62.3 yards per kickoff in a 56 attempts with 18 touchbacks.
Shields led the team in tackles 65 and had a team-best 12.5 tackles for losses of 43 yards. He also had six pass breakups with one interception and one forced fumble. He had a season-high 12 tackles against Eastern. He had 3.5 sacks for 24 yards.
Blake had 13 catches for 112 yards and three scores. His three TD receptions were second-best on the squad. He had three catches in two games, Lebanon Valley and Alvernia.
Travis was second on the team in tackles at 54, with 8.5 tackles for losses of 18 yards. He also had a team-best three forced fumbles. He had a season-best 11 tackles in the win over FDU-Florham.
Manassa was fourth on the team in tackles with 40 and had a team-best nine pass breakups. He had a season-high eight tackles in the win over Eastern.
Stevenson (7-3, 6-3 MAC) will take on Ursinus on Saturday in the MAC-Centennial Bowl. This is the ninth straight season that the Mustangs have appeared in the postseason.
