Football hits bye week at 4-0 after 55-20 win over FDU-Florham

Mustangs get four TDs from Clouser in win

MADISON, N.J. – The Stevenson University football team scored the first 34 points of the game as the Mustangs (4-0, 3-0 Middle Atlantic Conference) closed the first half of the schedule with a 55-20 win over FDU-Florham (0-4, 0-3 Middle Atlantic Conference) on Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs, now 4-0 for the first time the 2022 season, also matched its best start in MAC play since 2016 at 3-0 as the team hits the conference wide bye.

Stevenson had 529 yards of total offense and averaged over eight yards per play. The 55 points was the third most in school history.
Louis Clouser and Jordan Adams played a big part in the offensive output. Clouser, who went over 1,000 career rushing yards in the game, finished the day with 230 yards on 22 carries for four touchdowns. Clouser scored on runs of 31, 8, 60 and 23 on the day. His 230 yards is fourth best all-time in a game by a Stevenson player. His four touchdowns tied the school record for scoring in game (KK Smith, Trey Lee).

Adams, in his second start of the season, threw for 260 yards and three scores. He was 16-for-27 with a 70-yard scoring pass to Seth Parker. Parker finished the day with three catches for 129 yards and a score. Dillon Johnson had a team-high seven catches for 87 yards and s score, while Stephen Tatum also caught a scoring pass.

Guiliano Scavetta had a touchdown run of ten yards on his only attempt on the day.

Matthew Berry, Brandon Adler and Terae Franklin each had six tackles on the day, while Tysean Milligan, Thomas Fisher and Benjamin Cohen each had five stops.

Darius Jones and Darius Thomas each had an interception with Daryus Henderson having two pass breakups.

Sam McKinney averaged 41.2 yards on four punts while Parker had a 51-yard punt return. Micah Veilleux was 7-for-8 on PAT kicks, just one off the school record of 8. Parker's 51-yard punt return was tied for fourth best in school history.

Clouser set the tone in the first quarter, as he scored on a 31-yard run on the opening possession of the game for a 7-0 lead with 13:04 left, followed by an 8-yard run in the second possession of the game for a 14-0 lead with 9:28 left.

Adams converted the next two scores, throwing a 12-yard pass to Tatum with 4:05 left and a 70-yard bomb to Parker with :49 left for a 28-0 lead.

Adams' third TD pass was to Johnson from 26 yards out with 12:04 left in the second quarter for a 34-0 lead.

Clouser scored his final touchdown of the day 2:24 into the third quarter for a 41-7 edge, with his final score coming with 10:16 left in the fourth on a 23-yard run for a 48-20 advantage.

Scavetta scored with 1:53 left on a ten-yard run for the final scoring margin.

Stevenson is off next week, before hosting King's on Friday, October 10, at 7 p.m.
