GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Stevenson Men's Beach Volleyball traveled to Tusculum University this weekend for their Team and Pairs Invitational. The Mustangs started the tournament with a strong team showing - defeating Tusculum 4-1 and Erskine 5-0 but falling to Webber International in a hard-fought 3-2 match.
The Mustangs started off against the Warriors with Tim Flanagan and John Ferraro winning their match 2-1, by scores of 21-19, 20-22, and 15-8. Stevenson's second win was achieved by Kevin Kouchoukos and Tanner Laukhuff, who defeated Webber's Hitchins and Nielsen 21-18 and 20-18, losing the second set by just six.
Tusculum served as the second opponent for Stevenson, and the Mustangs picked up four match wins. Tim Flanagan and John Ferraro once again took the win as the first pair, defeating Tusculum's Blankenship and Dubinsky 21-12 and 21-15. Second pair Anthony Pezzino and Ryan Thenell took the Pioneers' Landry and Svendsen to three sets, winning the first and third 21-18 and 15-11, respectively. Aidan O'Brien and Jack Braverman would also grab victories as the third pair, as would Stevenson's fifth pair of Doug Hines and Jay Hyman.
The Mustangs finished the team slate with a sweep of Erskine, bringing their team record up to 10-3 overall.
