OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson men's beach volleyball inaugural season has come to close with the Mustangs sweeping Loyola (Md.) 5-0 Friday night at the Mustang Beach Courts.
The No. 1 pair of
Tim Flanagan and
Ryan Thenell swept the Greyhound pair by set scores of 21-7 and 21-6.
At No. 2,
Jack Braverman and
Aidan O'Brien won by set scores of 21-9 and 21-13.
At No. 3,
Justin Novoa and
Jay Hyman took the match at 2-0 with set scores of 21-8 and 21-10.
At No. 4
Kevin Kouchoukos and
Minh Christensen won 2-0 with twin scores of 21-8 and 21-8.
At No. 5,
Elliot De La Torre and
JD Sarmuksnis took the match with set scores of 21-14 and 21-18.
In the exhibition match,
Micah Ernest and
Doug Hines won with set scores of 21-8 and 21-12.
The duo of
Brian Farrell and
Quinn Estlack along with the pair of
Dani Stewart and
Christian Kregel also won exhibition matcghes.
Stevenson is the first NCAA school to sponsor men's beach volleyball at the varsity level and finished its inaugural season with a 7-2 record. Five of the Mustangs seven victories were 5-0 sweeps.
