IRVINE, Calif. – The Stevenson men's beach volleyball team (4-0) picked up its first set of road wins during a west coast trip to Irvine, California. The Mustangs defeated Santiago Canyon College 5-0 before sweeping host Irvine Valley College 5-0, never dropping a set in either match.
Match 1 vs Santiago Canon College
The No. 1 pair of
Tim Flanagan and
Ryan Thenell swept the Hawks pair by set scores of 21-8 and 21-12.
At No. 2,
Jack Braverman and
Aidan O'Brien won with twin set scores of 21-16 and 21-16. At No. 3,
Justin Novoa and
Jay Hyman took the match at 2-0 with set scores of 21-13 and 21-9.
At No. 4
Kevin Kouchoukos and
Minh Christensen took set one 21-18 before taking the second set 21-7.
At No. 5,
Elliot De La Torre and
JD Sarmuksnis took the match with set scores of 21-11 and 21-8.
Match 2 vs Irvine Valley College
The No. 1 pair of
Tim Flanagan and
Ryan Thenell won their second match of the day, defeating the Lasers pair by set scores of 21-14 and 21-10.
At No. 2,
Jack Braverman and
Aidan O'Brien won set scores of 21-10 and 21-15. At No. 3,
Justin Novoa and
Jay Hyman took the match at 2-0 with set scores of 21-17 and 21-15.
At No. 4
Kevin Kouchoukos and
Minh Christensen took set one 21-16 before taking the second set 21-13.
At No. 5,
Elliot De La Torre and
JD Sarmuksnis took the match with set scores of 21-8 and 21-11.

- The Mustangs continue competition Saturday, September 17 with a double header, facing Orange Coast College at 9am Pacific (12pm Eastern) and Westcliff College at 11am Pacific (2pm Eastern).
- Stevenson will wrap up its California trip on Sunday, September 18 with a matchup against Golden West College at 9am Pacific(12pm Eastern) followed by Moorepark College at 10am Pacific (1pm Eastern).
