Mustangs Show Improvement in Tri-Meet With East Stroudsburg, Kutztown

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- Competing against two other first-year programs, Stevenson acrobatics & tumbling showed some steady improvement on Friday night in tri-meet competition inside Koehler Fieldhouse.

Stevenson posted a 127.650 without the team event, while East Stroudsburg scored a 182.135 and meet winner Kuztown notched a 210.245.

The Mustangs picked up heat victories against East Stroudsburg in the acro heat and tumbling heat, while increasing their total score by almost 10 points from their inaugural competition against Frostburg State.

With steady scores in the acro event, Stevenson earned its first heat win in program history in the six element. With a start value of 8.85, the team of Makenzie Estes, Megan Despres, Lexi Gross and Nikki Kong finished with a 7.75, earning the head-to-head victory against East Stroudsburg in the heat.

The Mustangs followed it up with heat victories against the Warriors in the inversion pyramid (8.75), 450 salto toss (7.10), trio pass (7.40), ariel pass (7.65) and six element pass (7.475). With the highest start value of any team, the Mustangs earned the highest event score of the meet in the trio pass, led by the group of Chrissy Carpenter, Despres and Allison Trinks.

Estes, Despres, Trinks, Paige Leszcynski, Gross and Stephanie Dixon competed for the Mustangs in the inversion pyramid.

Carpenter, Trinks, Despres, Sarah Padilla and Gross notched a solid 7.10 in the 450 salto toss. Trinks and Despres scored well for the Mustangs in the aerial and six element passes, respectively.
