CONWAY, Ark.- The Stevenson women's beach volleyball team went 4-0 on the weekend at the Warrior Beach Bash hosted by Hendrix University. The Mustangs won, 4-1 against Mary Hardin Baylor and Hendrix, and then won, 5-0 against Berry and Ottawa.
Against Mary Hardin-Baylor, Shannon Baily and Emily Pellini took set one 21-17 before falling 18-21 in set two. The pair then won, 15-12 in the third set. Piper Connors and Taylor Jones won 21-15, 21-19 at No. 2. Abby Bruce and Olivia Simon were defeated 21-17, 19-21, 12-15 at No. 3 while Ellie Cast and Rileigh Kimball were victorious at No. 4, winning, 21-16, 21-12. Hannah Naja and Maddie Clouser won 18-21, 21-11, 15-6.
Against Berry, Stevenson had two of the five matches go to three sets. Baily and Pellini held on a No. 1 for a 20-22, 21-12, 15-6 win while at No. 3, Bruce and Simon registered a 21-14, 13-21, 15-9 victory. Connors and Jones won, 21-12, 21-13, Cast and Kimball won, 21-18, 21-11, and Naja and Clouser won 24-22, 21-17.
Against Hendrix, Bruce and Simon won, 21-16, 21-13. Naja and Clouser won, 18-21, 21-13, 15-13. Connors and Jones won, 21-17, 21-17. Cast and Kimball won, 21-13, 21-19. Baily and Pellini fell, 10-21, 8-21.
Against Ottawa, Baily and Pellini won 21-12, 21-18 at No. 1. At No.2 Connors and Jones were victorious, 21-14, 21-16 while Bruce and Simon defeated the pair at No. 3, 21-9, 21-11. Cast and Kimball earned a 21-12, 21-2 victory at No. 4, and Naja and Clouser won at No. 5.
The team went 4-0 on the weekend as the Mustangs move to 12-8 overall on the season. Connors/Jones, Cast/Kimball, and Naja/Clouser all went 4-0 on the weekend in their pairings. Simon/Bruce and Baily/Pellini went 3-1 in their pairing on the weekend.
The Mustangs are back April 9-10 as they host Liberty and Loyola in the Stevenson Tournament.
