LAKELAND, Fla.- The Stevenson women's beach volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to DII Florida Southern by scores of 4-1, 3-2 in a double dual.
In the first match of the day, at No. 1 Emily Pellini and Shannon Baily fell, 21-19, 21-17. At No. 2, Piper Connors and Taylor Jones sent their match into a third set but ultimately fell, 20-22, 21-18, 15-8. Olivia Simon and Rileigh Kimball won their sets, 21-11, 21-16 at No. 3. Hannah Naja and Kayla Vaeth forced the third set but fell, 15-21, 21-16, 15-9. The No. 5 pair, Ellie Cast and Maddie Clouser also fell in three sets, 21-11, 17-21, 15-12.
Simon and Kimball earned the lone win in match one while Simon and Kimball and Naja and Vaeth won their sets in the second match.
In the second match, Pellini and Baily took FSU to a third set falling, 21-18, 16-21, 15-11. Connors and Jones dropped sets, 21-13, 21-11 at No. 2, and Simon and Kimball were victorious with a, 21-16, 21-14 win at No. 3. Naja and Vaeth won their first and third sets, 21-13, 17-21, 15-10 at No. 4 while Cast and Clouser dropped their sets, 21-17, 21-9.
Stevenson will travel to Hendrix on Saturday, March 26th. The Mustangs will face Mary Hardin-Baylor at 10 AM, Berry at 12 PM, and Hendrix at 4 PM.
