Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Stevenson softball team recorded a total of 23 hits across two games as they defeated DII Mansfield, 4-0, and Franciscan, 6-5.
Game 1 vs. Mansfield
The Mustangs gained their momentum in the top of the second inning scoring three runs. Sierra Stark singled to right field and advanced to second on a walk. Rebecca Henry singled to left field to load up the bases. Mackenzie Tobler reached on a fielder's choice which brought home Stark. Jordan Fangman singled to bring Henry across home plate. Maddie Bosley singled to left field to score Tobler.
Stevenson added another run in the third with Kat Perea scoring on a passed ball. Perea singled, advanced to second on a passed ball, and advanced to third on a fly out to center field. Innings four through seven were scoreless for both teams. Lauren Reisberg had to big throw-outs late in the game in the fifth and sixth innings.
Game 1 Notes:
- The team totaled three stolen bases by Fangman, Bosley, and Henry.
- Perea went 2 for 3 with one run scored.
- Stark went 1 for 2 with one run scored.
- Pitcher Marissa Heuer picked up her second win of the season recorded six strikeouts and no walks while allowing eight hits.
Game 2 vs. Franciscan
The Mustangs were off to a hot start in their second game of the day at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic. Stevenson scored three of their six runs in the bottom of the first. Bosely doubled through the right side. Perea and Stark doubled to left field to bring home Bosley and Perea. Asia Reeves tripled to center field bringing home Stark. Stevenson added a fourth run in the second to extend their lead. Rivers Edwards singled up the middle before Elizabeth Russo doubled to advance Edwards. A single by Bosley brought home, Edwards.
Franciscan got on the board in the fourth scoring two to cut Stevenson's lead in half. The Mustangs answered back in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-2 lead. Russo singled up the middle. Bosley tripled to the right field to bring Russo across home plate. The Barons brought three more home to even the score at five-all. Bosley and Megan Hamp were crucial in the sixth as Bosley singled up the middle before Hamp tripled to right-center to score Bosley.
Game 2 Notes:
- Stevenson recorded 13 hits which is the most they have had while in Myrtle Beach.
- Haines picked up her first win of the season in the circle, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing two hits.
- Bosley went 4 for 4 with two runs, two RBI, a double, and a triple.
- Russo went 2 for 4 with one run and a double.
Stevenson finishes off their spring break trip tomorrow as they face Suffolk at 11:30 AM and Westminster (Pa.) at 1:30 PM.
