Sadowski Totals Career High Eight Strikeouts as Mustangs Go 1-2 on Day One of Spring Break

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Stevenson softball team was edged, 3-2 in a close game against Rutgers-Newark before earning their first win of spring break over St. Joseph's (L.I). 

Game 2 vs. Rutgers-Newark 

Rutgers-Newark struck first with a single to bring their first runner across home plate. The Scarlet Raiders added another run in the top of the third after scoring on a fielder's choice. With Rutgers-Newark leading 2-0, the following two innings were scoreless until the sixth. Rutgers-Newark scored their final run after a single. 

The Mustangs got on the board scoring two in the bottom of the sixth. Rebecca Henry started off with a single and then reached second on an error. After Maddie Bosley singled, Henry advanced to third. A sacrifice fly to left field brought Henry home. The Mustang's second run came after Jordan Fangman scored on a wild pitch. 

Stevenson had a few more scoring chances in the bottom of the seventh, but the Scarlet Raiders put up a good defensive front. With the bases loaded, Henry reached first on a fielder's choice, but Rutgers-Newark got out the runner going home. In the next play, Fangman reached on a fielder's choice, but Rutgers-Newark again got out the runner going home. 

Stevenson totaled four hits while Rutgers-Newark totaled five. 

Game 3 vs. St. Joseph's (L.I.) 

The Mustangs started off game three of the day scoring first in the bottom of the first. Fangman singled and then on a sacrifice, Fangman advanced to second. Fangman then advanced on a fielder's choice and then came home following a wild pitch. The game was scoreless until the fifth when Stevenson put up another run. Jillian Haines scored after Fangman singled. The Golden Eagles scored their lone run in the sixth after a double. 

Both teams totaled three hits apiece. Jenna Sadowski tallied a career-high eight strikeouts. Fangman went 2 for 3 with one RBI and one run scored.
