Mustangs Drop Fourth Straight, Fall to Arcadia

Box Score

FREDRICKSBURG, Va. – The Stevenson baseball team (1-7-1) was unable to plate a run, falling to Arcadia (5-1) by a score of 10-0 Sunday afternoon at Earl Dickinson Stadium.

For the second straight game, the Mustangs were unable to plate a run, facing a strong pitching performance from Arcadia's Hunter Sibley who threw six scoreless innings striking out seven and allowing six hits.

Eric Mondragon went 2-4 at the plate, slapping two doubles, the only extra-base hits recorded by the Mustangs. Graduate student Tommy Holcomb also recorded a multi-hit performance for Stevenson, going 2-4 at the dish.

Stevenson first year Cameron Nebel made his second-career start, going 4.2 innings and striking out four. Jake Boden took the mound in relief not allowing a hit in his inning of work, striking out two. Trevor Smoot took the hill in the final inning, forcing three fly-outs.

The Knights capitalized on Stevenson errors to plate the game's first run in the opening frame. Arcadia added single runs in the third and fourth innings before knocking in three in the fifth inning. The Knights added another run in the sixth and their final three runs in the eighth.

The Mustangs added eight hits in the game, moving runners to scoring position on seven occasions but went 0-7 in the opportunity to plate runs. The Mustangs threatened to plate a run in the fourth when Mondragon stole third after his first double of the day but strikeout ended the inning.

Stevenson earned another opportunity to avoid a scoreless decision in the eight when Amani Jones moved to third and Alex Russo to second on a fielder's choice. The threat was extinguished with a groundout to short.
