OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Stevenson University earned a hard-fought 4–3 victory over York (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon, improving to 18–17 overall and 8–13 in conference play. After trailing early, the Mustangs used a pair of multi-run innings and strong pitching down the stretch to secure the win.
York struck first with a run in the second inning and added another in the fourth to take a 2–0 lead. Stevenson responded in the bottom of the fourth, as a clutch two-RBI single from John Noll tied the game at 2–2 . The Mustangs carried that momentum into the fifth inning, where Shaun Rudick delivered a key two-run single to give Stevenson a 4–2 advantage.
York narrowed the deficit to one run in the eighth inning, capitalizing on a wild pitch to make it 4–3. Jacob Laumann closed out the game in the ninth inning to secure the victory.
Offensively, Stevenson totaled eight hits, led by Rudick's two-hit, two-RBI performance. Ben Vaughan and Cole Reich each contributed doubles, while Noll added an RBI in a pivotal pinch-hit appearance.
On the mound, Sommers Turner collected to win coming in the fifth inning.
The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Marymount University for their last regular season games. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
