STEVENSON, Md. - Senior Nate Perkins hit a walkoff bases loaded single with the game tied 8-8 to lift the Stevenson baseball team to a 9-8 victory in game two of a non-conference doubleheader with Alvernia Sunday afternoon at Sugar Field.  The Golden Wolves captured the first game by a score of 12-3.

• Stevenson (4-2) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Kevin Murray Jr. belted a two-run home run to right field. Perkins also scored as he had been hit by a pitch one batter prior.
• Alvernia (4-2) tied the game with two runs in the top of the fourth, then plated three in the fifth, two in the sixth and five in the seventh to build a 12-2 lead.
• Perkins drove in the third run in the bottom of the seventh of the seven-inning contest as his single up the middle plated pinch runner Cooper Sancomb.  Sancomb was running for Michael Smell, who reached on a two-out single.
• Alex Kidwiler had two of Stevenson's five hits in the opener.
• Mustang starter Jake Vanko went four innings and allowed six hits and two runs while striking out two.
• Kyle Pellegrino took the loss, surrendering three runs in an inning of work.

• The Golden Wolves grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
• Stevenson responded with three runs in the bottom half of the opening frame, as Murray and Kidwiler worked back-to-back walks to start the game.
• Billy McAdam singled to load the bases, then a Jonathan Brandt sac fly brought in Murray.
• Trent Smoot singled to center to bring in Kidwiler and McAdam.
• Alvernia tied the game with a pair in the fourth, but the hosts responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 6-3.
• Smell led off with a single and scored on a Murray base hit to right.
• After McAdam was hit by a pitch, Brandt tripled to knock in both baserunners.
• Stevenson tacked on two runs in the seventh as Tommy Holcomb doubled to score Brandt, while Holcomb scored from second on a Smoot infield single as the throw to try to get Smoot at first sailed away.
• Alvernia pounded out six hits and rallied to tie the game with five runs in the top half of the ninth.
• In the bottom of the ninth, Brandt doubled, then back-to-back walks to Holcomb and Smoot loaded the bases.
• Perkins lifted a single down the right field line to bring in Brandt and end the game.
• Brandt finished with seven total bases as he went 3-4 with two doubles and a triple while recording three RBI.
• Smoot was 3-3 with two RBI, while Murray also recorded three hits as Stevenson outhit Alvernia 13-12.
• Vaughn Steeves recorded the final out in relief in the top of the ninth and earned the victory.
• Kidwiler tossed the first six innings and scattered six hits while surrendering three runs (one earned).

• Murray extended his season-opening hit streak to six games.  He has recorded multiple hits in five of those contests.
• Stevenson is 8-3 at Sugar Field dating back to the start of the 2020 season.

• Stevenson is scheduled to open MAC Commonwealth play next weekend with a four-game series against Albright. The Mustangs will host the Lions for a noon doubleheader on Saturday at Sugar Field.
