Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Stevenson women's soccer started fast, pumping in an early goal before doubling the lead and holding off a strong second half push from visiting Hood in a 2-1 triumph at a scenic night inside Mustang Stadium on Wednesday.
Stevenson (3-4-4, 1-0-0 MAC Commonwealth) got on the board first following a strong set piece marker from Olivia Stephen in the 14th minute. The Mustangs doubled the advantage after Kennedy Cash acrobatically placed a goal in the top corner about 20 minutes later. From there, Keegan Caffrey and the Stevenson defense shut down Hood (3-7-1, 1-1-0 MAC Commonwealth) as the Blazers unleashed a big onslaught in the final 45 minutes.
- Stevenson got on the board in the 14th minute with a set piece tally from Stephen, handing the Mustangs a 1-0 advantage.
- Caffrey made her second save of the evening after turning aside a Natalie Sindlinger chance in the 16th minute.
- Stevenson remained in control, continuing to test Hood with a pair of shots from Michelle Mesquita in the 19th and 21st minutes.
- The Mustangs continued pressing forward, eventually doubling their lead in the 34th minute. Kierra McGee charged up the right side, laying a slick pass to Cash, who cashed with a one-touch shot for her first career goal.
- Hood responded back in the second half with a pair of early attempts. The Blazers finished off on their lone tally of the night after Brianna Gobell labeled one just underneath the crossbar, trimming the Stevenson lead in half.

- Courtney Ellis pasted one off the right post in the 66th minute as Stevenson continued clinging to its 2-1 lead.
- Cassidy Butler closed in for a shot in the 74th minute, forcing Hood keeper Gabi Dolan to make a low save.
- Caffrey plucked away a great scoring chance, making her sixth stop of the night, with a big stop on Priya Nair in the 81st minute.
- The Mustangs forged ahead for one final push of offense, with attempts from Stephen and Jessica Kern in the final five minutes.
- Caffrey was there for one more stop against Nair in the 90th minute, preserving the hard-fought 2-1 triumph for the Mustangs.
