JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Stevenson University women's beach volleyball team swept Division II opponents Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial for the second straight day Sunday, downing the Eagles 4-1 and the Railsplitters 3-2.
Against CNU, Stevenson (7-7) had three of five matches go three sets. Darian Hileman and Piper Connors held on at No. 1 for a 21-12, 16-21, 15-12 win, while at No. 3, Katie Leftridge and Emily Pellini registered a 21-11, 16-21, 15-8 victory. Emily Castro and Caroline Dangel forced a third set at No. 2 before falling 21-18, 12-21, 15-9.
Victoria Prokic and Julie Nightwine won 21-18, 21-15 at No. 4, while Mackenzie Blevins and Sarah Riggin posted a 21-12, 21-13 win.
Stevenson was victorious at Nos. 1, 3 and 5 against LMU. Hileman and Connors rallied for a 9-21, 21-13, 15-10 win at No. 1, while at No. 3, Leftridge and Pellini won 21-10, 19-21, 15-9. Prokic and Nightwine prevailed 21-8, 21-14 at No. 5.
Stevenson hosts its annual tournament next weekend (April 13-14), entertaining Huntingdon, Liberty and Towson.
