REISTERSTOWN, Md. - The Stevenson women's ice hockey team recorded 25 blocked shots while holding the best scoring offense in Division III to just one goal per period as the Mustangs dropped a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest versus No. 2 Elmira Friday evening at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

• The Soaring Eagles (21-2-1, 17-0-0 UCHC) got on the board just 4:39 into the contest as freshman goaltender Ana Holzbach was screened on a shot from the point by Amanda Zenstein.
• Elmira finished with 15 shots on net in the period, with Holzbach making 14 saves.
• The Mustangs (9-13-2, 6-9-2 UCHC) recorded 10 blocked shots in the period.
• Stevenson put three shots on net in the opening 20 minutes with shots by sophomore Trinity Barcless, freshman Nikki Kendrick, and sophomore Angelica Saluzzo.
• The hosts were whistled for the game's only penalty in the period, but Holzbach stopped all four shots on net to shutdown the nation's best power play unit.

• The Mustangs opened the period with a pair of blocked shots in the opening two minutes, including a blocked shot by senior Kellen Wittman on the opening shift.
• Emma Crocker netted the first of her two goals at the 7:01 mark, scoring backdoor on a feed from Maddy Jerolman.
• Junior Annie Smyth-Hammond took over in net and stopped three breakaway chances in the period to keep the deficit at two.
• Smyth-Hammond finished with nine saves in the period but it was Stevenson who recorded two of the final three shots on the frame.

• Five of the first eight recorded shots by Elmira were blocked by the Mustangs defense, including two by junior Jordan Pirrello.
• Crocker gave the visitors a 3-0 lead with 8:03 remaining in regulation with her second goal of the game.
• Elmira was held to just nine shots in the third period.

• Elmira outshot Stevenson, 40-8, marking the fewest shots the Mustangs have totaled in program history and just second time being held to under 10.
• The Soaring Eagles held a slight, 16-12, edge in face-offs. Elmira won nine of the first 10 face-offs before Stevenson won 11 of the final 18.
• It is the first time in the last nine games Elmira has been held to three goals or fewer and first time in the last six games without a power play goal.
• The Mustangs have not allowed a power play goal in five straight games.
• It is the second time this season a Stevenson opponent has not been penalized.
• Holzbach finished with 22 saves while Smyth-Hammond had 15.
• Twelve different players recorded a blocked shot for the Mustangs, with senior Maddy Ricci leading the way with five.

• Stevenson concludes the regular season on Saturday, February 16 when the Mustangs host the second of a two-game series versus 2nd-ranked Elmira. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
