Christie Leads Mustangs to Fifth Straight Win

READING, Pa. - Stevenson women's soccer senior Brianna Christie netted two goals as the Mustangs posted their fifth straight win and fourth consecutive shutout with a 3-0 MAC Commonwealth victory over Alvernia Saturday afternoon at Schlager Memorial Field.

  • The Mustangs (6-6-1, 3-0-0 MAC Commonwealth) put the pressure on early as senior Marissa Inglisa put a shot on net in the opening 30 seconds of the contest.
  • In the fourth minute, senior Alayna Roesener played the ball back to Christie who fired a one-timer off the crossbar and down across the goal line for the early score.
  • Stevenson did not let up as Roesener and junior Allison Arters fired back-to-back shots on net in the sixth minute.
  • Junior Keegan Caffrey had her first test in the eighth minute as she stopped the Golden Wolves (3-10-0, 0-3-0 MAC Commonwealth) first shot of the game just two minutes later.
  • The Mustangs recorded 13 shots in the opening half with seven of them on target.

  • Just 1:43 into the half, Christie doubled the visitors lead after a long throw-in by Roesener was flicked on by junior Bridget Heist to the near post for Christie to knock in.
  • Following the goal, Alvernia had a pair of shots on net but Caffrey was there to make the stop both times.
  • In the 63rd minute, senior Alyssa Rasmussen netted her first goal of the season with an unassisted tally.
  • Sophomore Elizabeth Gaudreau and Kierra McGee sent back-to-back shots on net in the 83rd minute.
  • Seeing her first action in net this season, sophomore Samantha Baysic made a pair of stops in the final 2:45 to preserve the shutout.

  • Stevenson outshot Alvernia, 23-8, and held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
