OWINGS MILLS, Md. - A penalty kick in the 65th minute was the difference for the Stevenson women's soccer team as the Mustangs dropped a non-conference contest verus St. Mary's (Md.), 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.

• The Mustangs (0-4) recorded the first shot of the game in the 20th minute as a free kick from junior Alex Hamel from 35 yards out was easily saved by goalkeeper Katie Flores.
• Late in the opening half, Stevenson had another free shot from 35 yards out, this time taken by sophomore Allison Arters. But Flores once again made the stop.
• The only other shot that sailed high by sophomore Erin Horsey in the 33rd minute inside the 18-yard box.

• The Seahawks (2-2) recorded their first shot of the game in the 47th minute as Emily Huey's free kick from 35 yards out sailed over the crossbar.
• In the 52nd minute, Hamel played a long ball up the field that was headed forward by junior Alayna Roesener for classmate Delayna Witouski. Witouski's shot got by Flores but it hit off the far post.
• Junior Marissa Inglisa got behind the defense and ripped a shot from the top of the 18-yard box that was saved by a diving Flores. On the ensuing corner kick, senior Sam Hooker headed the cross by Arters but it was blocked by St. Mary's (Md.) defense.
• In the 65th minute, the Seahawks had a free kick that was sent into the box. Sophomore Keegan Caffrey came up with the save but the Mustangs were whistled for a foul in the box, giving the visitors a penalty kick that was converted by Lauren Hall.
• Flores recorded a pair of saves in the final 10 minutes.

• Stevenson held a 13-4 advantage in shots and a 8-0 edge in corner kicks.
• Caffrey finished with a pair of saves, both in the second half.

• Stevenson continues its five-game home stand on Wednesday, September 12 when the Mustangs host a non-conference contest versus Catholic beginning at 7:00 p.m.
