Mustangs Drop Non-Conference Road Contest Versus Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. - For the second consecutive game, the Stevenson women's ice hockey team allowed at least 50 shots while the Mustangs were shutout for the second straight game in a, 6-0, non-conference loss versus Endicott Saturday afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

  • Despite losing the opening face-off, the Gulls (7-2-2) scored 33 seconds into the contest as Jillian Gibbs scored an unassisted tally.
  • Midway through the period, the Mustangs (3-8-1) went on the power play for the first time but Vendela Jonsson turned aside shots by freshman Nikki Kendrick and senior Maddy Ricci.
  • After the early goal, junior Annie Smyth-Hammond stopped the next 15 shots while the defense had six blocked shots, including two by freshman Colleen McAnespie.

  • Smyth-Hammond stopped a pair of early shots to begin the period before Endicott was called for a tripping penalty, 1:34 into the middle frame.
  • The Mustangs recorded just one shot during the player advantage, from junior defender Carly McGee.
  • At 5:24, the hosts went on the power play for the first time but Smyth-Hammond made four saves while senior Allie Sabatini had a blocked shot.
  • Ellen Carter gave Endicott a 2-0 lead at the 7:44 mark before Maeve Moynihan and Courtney Sullivan scored 28 seconds apart for a 4-0 lead.

  • The Mustangs recorded the first four shots on the period in the opening five minutes before being held to two shots the rest of the way.
