WASHINGTON, D.C. - For the third consecutive game, Stevenson men's soccer senior Jake Brown recorded at least nine saves as the Mustangs battled Catholic to a scoreless double overtime tie Saturday afternoon at St. Alban's School.

It is the fourth game this season the Mustangs (1-3-2) have gone to overtime, including the third double overtime game. It is also the second straight scoreless double overtime draw versus Catholic and third consecutive overtime game in the series.

The visitors recorded the first shot on net as freshman Tariq Lee tested goalkeeper Zachery Tashjy in the opening five minutes. Lee shares the team lead with 12 shots this season.

Brown was busy early in the opening half, making all three of his first half saves in the first 29 minutes. He only had to make one save in the second half, a header in the 79th minute.

In the 76th minute, the Mustangs drew their first corner kick of the game and freshman Dylan Holy was able to get a head to the cross by junior Iliyas Mirza but the ball sailed high. The visitors were held to just four shots in regulation, including just one on net.

The Cardinals (2-2-3) took all seven shots in the first overtime period, forcing Brown to come up with four big saves, including a pair just 50 seconds apart. Brown has allowed just one goal on the last 31 shots on net.

Both teams registered a shot in the second overtime period, with Brown making his ninth save of the game. Each team also had a corner kick opportunity in the period but could not get a shot off.

Catholic held a 29-5 advantage in shots and a 14-2 edge in corner kicks.

Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, September 20 when the Mustangs host a non-conference contest versus Salisbury beginning at 7:00 p.m.
