SIESTA KEY, Fla. – The Stevenson University women's beach volleyball team finished fifth at the Rox Small College National Championships held as a part of the Fiesta on Siesta Key that wrapped up Sunday. The Small College National Championships featured 10 teams from NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools.
After defeating Huntingdon 4-1 Sunday morning to qualify for the Championship Gold bracket, the Mustangs were seeded fourth. Stevenson fell to Missouri Baptist 3-2 to finish fifth.
Sophomore Grace Coleman and freshman Trang Christensen were victorious for Stevenson at No. 3, while two matches went to a third set. No. 1 pair Samantha Perillo and Kristen Brooks pulled out a 15-13 win in the fifth set, while junior Lauren Weaver and freshman Katie Leftridge also went three at No. 3 before falling 15-12.
Stevenson wraps up season number two of women's beach volleyball the weekend of April 22-23 when it hosts the second annual Stevenson Invitational. The Mustangs welcome Principia College as well as Morgan State and Towson.
