BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Stevenson University women's beach volleyball team split a pair of matches Thursday, defeating Warner University 4-1 before falling to host Webber International University 5-0.
For Stevenson (5-5), graduate student Samantha Perillo and senior Kristen Brooks pulled out a 21-17, 21-23, 17-15 win at No. 1 against Warner. Sophomore Grace Coleman and freshman Trang Christensen were 25-23, 21-13 winners at No. 3, while junior Megan Hren and freshman Darian Hileman posted a 21-14, 21-11 win at No. 4. Junior Deanna Bradbury and sophomore Chelsea Ireland rallied for a 15-21, 21-17, 15-9 win at No. 5.
Against Webber International, Perillo and Brooks forced a third set after dropping the first before falling 21-12,22-20, 15-8. Bradbury and Ireland also forced a third set, but fell 21-19, 24-26, 15-12.
Stevenson returns to action on Friday when it travels to Alabama to face Huntingdon College in a 4:00 match.
