REISTERSTOWN, Md. - The Stevenson women's ice hockey team tied the program record with four power play goals while freshman Annika Carlander posted a shutout in her first career start as the Mustangs posted their third consecutive win with a 6-0 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) victory over King's (Pa.) Saturday afternoon at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

It is the 24th shutout in program history for the Mustangs (3-6-1, 2-1-1 UCHC), including the 11th on home ice. The team has recorded 20 of those shutouts over the last three seasons, with 13 of them coming in the 2015-16 season.

The hosts found the back of the net just 1:45 into the contest as senior Savannah Sommers finished on a breakaway for her second goal in as many games. Sophomore Rachel Grewette played the puck from behind Stevenson's net to junior Cierra Siemasko who passed it ahead to Sommers who did the rest. It is the third goal for Sommers this season, which sets a new career best after totaling just three goals entering the season.

Just 33 seconds later, senior Monica Pozuc made it 2-0 after scoring on a rebound following back-to-back shot. Sophomore Carly McGee fired the puck in from the blue line before both senior Chelsea Blackburn and freshman Angelica Saluzzo poked at the puck before Pozuc slipped it in on the back side. It is the 60th career point for Pozuc, who ranks third in school history. Meanwhile, Blackburn picked up her 99th career point with the assist.

Early in the second period, the Mustangs had a five-on-three power play for 1:30 and scored with three seconds remaining in the first power play. Freshman Paige Stapleton passed the puck in from the blue line across to junior Allie Sabatini who tried to feed it to senior Kellen Wittman in front of the net. With traffic in front, the puck slid to the back post and sophomore Allyson Barlow was there to tap it in for her second goal of the weekend.

Sabatini would get a goal of her own late in the second period as she scored in similar fashion. With Kiva Sierra Stoltz trying to cover the puck out towards her right, the puck slipped to the open back post for an easy goal for Sabatini. Freshman Trinity Barcless and Barlow were credited with the assists.

Wittman got in on the scoring action, picking up her third in the two-game series and her first career power play goal. With just over five minutes remaining in the third period, Sabatini won an offensive zone face-off to senior Sarah Antonelli who fired a shot that was blocked by the defense before Wittman collected the rebound.

Senior Chelsea Ellis was the sixth player to find the back of the net with her power play goal with 2:30 remaining in regulation. Antonelli fired the puck in from the point that Ellis deflected in front for the score. It is the second power play goal for Ellis this season while Antonelli finished with her second career multi-assist game.

The four power play goals are tied for the most in a single game after the team recorded four in a win over Daniel Webster on January 29, 2017. Stevenson has recorded seven power play goals over the last two games after being held to one in its first eight.

The Mustangs outshot the Monarchs, 77-8, marking the sixth time in program history that an opponent was held under 10 shots. Meanwhile, the hosts won 48 of the 68 face-offs with Blackburn going 18-for-22 and Ellis finishing 16-for-22.

Carlander made eight saves while King's (0-7-1, 0-5-1 UCHC) was led by Stoltz in net with 71 saves.

Stevenson returns to action on Friday, December 8 when the Mustangs host a two-game non-conference series versus Buffalo State beginning at 7:00 p.m. It is the first time the two teams will have met since Stevenson's inaugural season when the Mustangs earned the program's inaugural win.
