BABSON PARK, Fla. - Two pairs picked up their first collegiate beach volleyball wins as Stevenson University was edged 3-2 by Warner University in a match played at Webber International University on Friday.
At No. 3, junior Sara Bollinger and sophomore Lauren Weaver won their first match of the season, winning 21-15 in the first set before falling 21-16 in the second. The pair bounced back for a 15-13 win to pick up the point.
Sophomores Katie McGuire and Deanna Bradbury earned a win at No. 4. The pair dropped the first set 21-16 and was down 18-13 in the second when McGuire served five straight points to tie the set 18-18. McGuire and Bradbury prevailed 22-20 in the second set and clinched the match with a 15-12 win in the third.
Stevenson is back in action on Saturday against Webber International and St. Thomas.
