Box Score READING, Pa. - Stevenson men's soccer junior Jonathan Hart scored his second game-winning goal in the last three games 8:20 into the first overtime period as the Mustangs escaped with a 2-1 victory over Albright Saturday evening at Gene L. Shirk Stadium.
With the win, the Mustangs (3-8-2, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) are now unbeaten in four of their last five while posting their third consecutive victory over Albright. Stevenson is now 5-3-1 in the all-time series over the Lions.
Junior Adam Diabagate put the visitors on the board just 2:10 into the contest with a header off a 30-yard free kick by freshman DR Medtart. It is the first goal for Diabagate since September 8, 2014 when he scored twice in a win over Rosemont.
Meanwhile, it is the second assist in the last three games for Medtart who has started 12 of the team's 13 games this season. As a team, it is the sixth time Stevenson has scored first.
Late in the second half, Yuya Oyama knotted the game at 1-1 with his 83rd minute goal as he was able to get a touch on a cross from Lawrence Pierre from the right side.
But it was Hart who played hero for Stevenson once again as his second career goal was also his second career game-winner. With 1:40 remaining in the first overtime period, Hart ripped a shot from 15 yards out that beat goalkeeper Billy Mullen low.
Albright (2-8-2, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) held a 9-7 advantage in shots but just three of the Lions' shots were on frame. The Mustangs held a slight edge in corner kicks, 6-5.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, October 12 when the Mustangs begin a four-game home stand as they welcome Catholic for a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
