DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Stevenson men's soccer fell to Delaware Valley, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Robert A. Lipinski Field. The Mustangs move to 2-1-1 on the season, while the Aggies improve to 3-0-1.
Delaware Valley generated the first opportunity of the contest in the third minute, but Stevenson goalkeeper Andrew Sindicic turned away the attempt. The Aggies broke through in the 14th minute as they found the back of the net to give Delaware Valley a 1-0 advantage. Sindicic made two additional saves in the opening half to keep the Mustangs within one.
Stevenson looked to respond late in the first half, with Jacob Greene recording an attempt in the 35th minute. Landon Eaton followed with a shot on goal in the 45th minute, but Delaware Valley made the save to send the Aggies into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
The Mustangs continued to search for the equalizer in the second half. Shai Farmer registered an attempt in the 71st minute before Stevenson increased the pressure in the closing minutes. Kameron Ross put an attempt on frame in the 88th minute, forcing another save. The Mustangs earned their lone corner kick moments later before Daniel Baena sent an attempt just off target.
Sindicic finished with three saves in the full 90 minutes. The Mustangs also held the second-half shot advantage, 3-2.
The Mustangs return to action on Tuesday, when they host Penn-State Brandywine for a 5 p.m. match-up at Owings Mills East.
