Mustangs Fall on the Road at Lebanon Valley, Remain in Third Place

Box Score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's soccer sophomore Emily Lord scored her first career goal but Lebanon Valley scored three unanswered as the Mustangs dropped a MAC Commonwealth, 3-1, Wednesday afternoon at Herbert Field.

Despite the loss, the Mustangs (7-6-2, 4-2-1 MAC Commonwealth) remain in third place, one point ahead of Lebanon Valley. With a win on Saturday, Stevenson can ensure themselves of at least a third place finish while they would need some help to claim a second place finish.

Lord put the visitors on the board in the 30th minute after she scored on a breakaway down the left side beating goalkeeper Taylor Reinhold to the far post. Lord is the seventh player to score their first career goal this season.

The Dutchmen (10-5, 4-3 MAC Commonwealth) however answered with back-to-back goals in a 1:26 span in the 37th and 38th minutes. A shot by Sammy Bost was blocked by junior Morgan Cary but the ball went right to Meghan Ross for a wide open spot before Samantha MacHin gave the hosts a 2-1 lead after junior goalkeeper Tiffany McKee dove on a cross by Rileigh Jo Evitts.

With eight seconds remaining in the opening half, freshman Brianna Christie was whistled for a red card, leaving the Mustangs a player down for the remainder of the game.

Just 1:16 into the second half, the Lebanon Valley was awarded a penalty kick as Bost put away her team leading 19th goal of the season.

The Mustangs managed to get two late shots on goal, including one by junior Destiny Ferguson in the final 20 seconds. But both shot were saves by Reinhold.

The Dutchmen held a 15-10 lead in shots while the Mustangs held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks, with all four corner kicks coming in the second half. The two teams combined for the 21 fouls.

Stevenson concludes the regular season on Saturday, October 29 when the Mustangs travel to Lycoming for a MAC Commonwealth contest beginning at 12:00 p.m.
