Mustangs Fall on the Road to No. 22 Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Stevenson men's soccer team managed just three shots on net as 22nd-ranked Lebanon Valley had five different players score in a 5-0 MAC Commonwealth win for the Dutchmen Tuesday afternoon at Arnold Field.

With the loss, the Mustangs (3-12-3, 2-5 MAC Commonwealth) were officially eliminated from the MAC Commonwealth playoff race as they sit two games behind the fifth place team with only one game remaining.

The Dutchmen scored four goals in the opening half, which started with a 14th minute penalty kick by Tyler Skye. The hosts doubled its lead in the 28th minute as Riley Katshir headed in a free-kick in the box from Alex Detweiler.

Lebanon Valley scored twice more before the first 45 minutes was over, with the last coming off a Stevenson turnover. The hosts held a slight 8-7 lead in shots at the break, but all seven of the Mustangs shots were off target.

The hosts scored their fourth assisted goal of the day in the 51st minute as Bradley Mehl played a through ball to Austin Freeman who hit a left-footed strike to the far right post.

The Dutchmen outshot the Mustangs, 16-11 while the visitors held a slight 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Senior Michael Tringali finished with three saves, all in the second half.

Stevenson concludes the 2016 season on Saturday, October 29 when the Mustangs travel to Lycoming for a MAC Commonwealth contest beginning at 3:00 p.m.
