Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's soccer junior Adam Diabagate scored in the final 39 seconds but the Mustangs dropped a MAC Commonwealth contest versus Alvernia, 2-1 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.
The Mustangs (3-11-3, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth) have never won in eight all-time meetings versus Alvernia. The two teams tied, 4-4, in the first meeting in 2011, but the Crusaders (4-10-1, 3-2-1 MAC Commonwealth) have outscored Stevenson, 18-7 since.
Chris Guth opened the scoring in the ninth minute as he finished a corner kick from Jay Ringer. The Crusaders then made it 2-0 in the 17th minute after the Stevenson defense scored an own goal.
Despite heavily outshooting Alvernia, 20-9, including 13-3 in the second half, the Mustangs could only find the back of the net as Diabagate headed in a last minute corner kick from sophomore Kevin Benitez.
The Mustangs also finished with a 5-3 edge in corner kicks, including 3-0 in the second half.
In pregame ceremonies, the team honored seniors Kelvin Adomako, Michael Tringali and Lorenzo Wright.
Stevenson returns to action on Tuesday, October 25 when the Mustangs travel to Lebanon Valley for a MAC Commonwealth contest beginning at 3:30 p.m.
