Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. - For the fourth time this season, the Stevenson women's soccer team went to overtime but it was a penalty kick that allowed host Johns Hopkins to post a 2-1 victory Wednesday evening at Homewood Field.
The Mustangs (3-8) are 2-2 in overtime games this season and dropped its fourth-straight one-goal game. Ten of the team's 11 games have been decided by one goal this season, including the last nine.
Meanwhile, the Blue Jays, who were ranked at No. 5 in the NSCAA Preseason Poll, posted their fourth-straight win and 46th in their last 52 home games.
An own goal put Stevenson on the board first after a corner kick by senior Allie Ondrejcak deflected off a Blue Jays defender. The goal broke a 315:05 scoreless streak for the Mustangs after being shutout the previous three games.
Meg Van de Loo tied the game at 1-1 for Johns Hopkins (6-2-1) in the 63rd minute after Kristen Hori found Van de Loo who beat the keeper to the near post.
The Blue Jays outshot the Mustangs 17-7, including 10-1 in the second half. Johns Hopkins final shot of the half by Van de Loo was nearly the game-winner but her shot hit off the crossbar.
Van de Loo did score the game-winning goal in the overtime period on a penalty kick 2:52 into the period.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, October 3 when the Mustangs travel to Arcadia for a MAC Commonwealth contest. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
