York, Pa. (November 1) - The Stevenson women's soccer team showed its trademark toughness and defensive resilience in the regular-season finale, battling York (Pa.) to a narrow 1–0 MAC Commonwealth loss Saturday afternoon at Graham Field.
Goalkeeper
Isabella Serano was sensational between the posts, recording 15 saves while keeping the Mustangs in contention from start to finish. Serano faced 16 shots on goal and repeatedly denied the Spartans with quick reactions and confident positioning.
Isabella Pecunes led Stevenson's offensive push with three shots, including two on target, while
Miah Shulski and
Madison Simard each added opportunities. Defenders
Katelyn Lacey and
Laurel Hutchins anchored a composed Mustang back line, clearing dangerous chances and limiting York's scoring looks despite heavy pressure.
York broke through in the 81st minute off a corner kick for the game's lone goal, but the Mustangs refused to back down. Stevenson continued to press in the closing minutes, with Pecunes forcing a late save to keep the outcome in question until the final whistle.
Stevenson closes the regular season at 8–5–5 overall and 4–3 in MAC Commonwealth play, earning the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament. The Mustangs now turn their focus to a postseason rematch, traveling back to York to face the second-seeded Spartans in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinal on Tuesday, November 4.
