The Mustangs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI-single to center by Kopas that scored Miller before an RBI-double by junior Nick Peifer and an RBI-single by sophomore Matt Marinelli pushed their lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth.
However, the Cardinals posted six runs in the bottom of the fourth, highled by a two-run single by Andrew Stewart and a two-run triple by Brennan Cotter, to take a 6-3 lead.
Catholic (13-4-1), who is receiving votes in this week's D3baseball Top 25 Poll, plating two more runs in the fifth on a two-run single by Dan Hinchclif to push its lead to 8-3 before adding its final run on a sacrifice fly to right by Eric Scamardel in the eighth.
Three Cardinal pitchers combined to allow just seven hits while striking out seven, including Josh Martin who allowed just two hits and struck out two over 4.0 innings to earn his first win of the season.
Meanwhile, junior Ryan Martin suffered his first loss in his second start after surrendering eight earned runs on eight hits over 4.2 innings.
