Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Jackie Glanfield headed home the game-winner with 15 seconds remaining in the first overtime as third-seeded Arcadia upset the second-seeded Stevenson women's soccer team in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth semifinals Thursday evening at Mustang Stadium.
With the win, the Knights (14-5) advance to the MAC Commonwealth championship to face top-seeded and 13-time champion Messiah on Saturday, November 7. The loss for the Mustangs (9-11) concludes their season after advancing to three-straight title games.
Arcadia nearly scored the go-ahead goal in the 12th minute as Melia Ochsner's free kick hit off the crossbar and went straight down, landing just outside of the goal line. Stevenson then saw its shot nine minutes later, a 20-yard strike by junior Alexis Siejack, float over the head of Evelyn Feigeles and bounce off the crossbar.
The Mustangs outshot the Knights in the opening half, 8-4, and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Both teams had chances to score off of free kicks in the second half but neither could connect. Alyssa Ferraro had a look from 23 yards out early in the half but her shot sailed high. Senior Allie Ondrejcak had a similar look in the 74th minute but her shot too went just high.
Stevenson had a chance midway through the period when Siejack found sophomore Kellen Wittman just outside of the six-yard box, but an Arcadia defender deflected her one-timer wide. On the ensuing corner kick by Ondrejcak, the seventh of the game for the hosts, a header by freshman Sam Hooker also went wide.
In the overtime period, the Knights had two free kicks, including the first from 25-yards out that sailed high, as Jess Kelly tried to place it in the top left corner. Two minutes later, Arcadia had a free kick from midfield which was headed forward but sophomore Tiffany McKee came off her line to make the stop.
With time winding down, the Knights took advantage of a Mustang miscue to set up the game-winner. Kayla Haberbosch carried the ball 20 yards before playing a through ball to Karis Poore. Down near the goal line, Poore crossed the ball across the goal line to find a wide open Jackie Glanfield who headed it in.
Arcadia outshot Stevenson, 4-0 in the overtime period. McKee finished with nine saves.
The game marked the end of the careers for Ondrejcak, Emily Losquadro, Jordan Porretto, Ashlyn Hawbaker, Taylor Venturino and Jenna Shenk. In four seasons, they led the Mustangs to 49 wins, including a 24-6-4 conference record, three conference championship games, including winning the title in 2014, two ECAC championship games, including winning the title in 2012 and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
