Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's volleyball freshman Moriah Savage totaled a career-high 13 kills while sophomore Deanna Bradbury recorded a career-best 30 digs as the Mustangs posted a 25-16, 14-25, 27-25, 25-20 victory over Catholic Tuesday evening at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
The Mustangs (15-7) improved their record to 60-7 inside Owings Mills Gymnasium since it opened in 2010. The team is also 174-32 overall since that time.
Tied 8-8 in the opening set, Stevenson won eight-straight point on the serve of junior Sara Bollinger, including three kills by Savage and two by junior Kelsey Stave. Savage and Stave combined for nine kills in the game while Bradbury and junior Kristen Brooks combined for 23 digs.
The Cardinals (10-12) jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the second set, including eight-straight points on the serve of Mary Paige Nesfeder. Nesfeder led Catholic with 18 kills in the match. The Cardinals totaled just one error in the game compared to seven for the Mustangs.
Following a service ace by Bollinger in the third set that gave Stevenson a 10-9 advantage, the Cardinals went on a 10-2 run to take an eight-point lead. The Mustangs won 10 of the final 12 points.
Highlighted by seven kills from sophomore Annika Schwartz in the fourth set, Stevenson posted a .225 attack percentage, its highest in the match. Schwartz recorded a match-high 19 kills and added 14 digs.
Bollinger finished a career-high five services aces in addition to 49 assists, 12 digs and three kills. Meanwhile, Brooks totaled a season-high 25 digs in addition to eight kills.
Stevenson returns to action on Thursday, October 8 when the Mustangs travel to Elizabethtown for a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
