Women’s Volleyball Welcomes Ashley Williams as Assistant Coach

Owings Mills, Md. (April 2) — The Stevenson Women's Volleyball program and head coach Emma Lorenzen, is pleased to announce the hiring of Ashley Williams as the new Assistant Coach. Williams brings a wealth of coaching experience, a strong track record of player development, and a passion for mentoring student-athletes both on and off the court.

Williams joins the Mustangs for her first season on the Stevenson sidelines after nearly a decade of success with the Maryland Juniors Volleyball Club. Since 2016, she has helped guide her teams to 25 podium finishes across major tournaments while maintaining an impressive record without a single losing season. Throughout her club tenure, Williams has coached athletes ranging from ages 14 to 18 in both assistant and head coaching roles. She currently serves as the head coach of the 18 Elite travel team, where she continues to play a pivotal role in helping athletes earn opportunities to compete at the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels.

"Adding Ashley to our staff is something I'm incredibly excited about," said head coach Lorenzen. "Over the past year, we've connected through the recruiting of her club athletes, and I've had the chance to evaluate her from the sidelines while she coaches. The way she leads with intensity, professionalism, and purpose really stood out to me. She likes to win and is someone who aligns perfectly with the standard we're building here. I'm confident she's going to have a major impact on our program as we continue to push toward a championship culture!"

Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Williams began her volleyball journey at the age of 12, competing in the highly competitive Southern California region. She went on to have a decorated high school career, leading her program to three 4A Conference Championships and two 4A Regional Championships, while also helping her team to an almost undefeated season that concluded with a runner-up finish in the 4A State Championship.

"Joining Emma's staff is the culmination of a personal life goal to coach at the college level," said Williams. "Getting to know her and seeing the passion, hard work and preparedness she instills in her players in both college and club lets me know that working together with her will continue pushing this program to new heights. I cannot wait to see what we will achieve together with this team."

Williams is a graduate of East Carolina University, where she competed on the club volleyball team and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. In addition to her coaching career, she is currently in her 13th year as an accredited Senior Project Manager, working in the media and entertainment industry.

With her extensive coaching background and dedication to athlete success, Williams is set to make an immediate impact on the Stevenson women's volleyball program.
