Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md.- Junior Landon Easler scored Stevenson's lone goal, but it was not enough as the Stevenson men's soccer team fell to Lebanon Valley, 3-1, on Senior Night at Mustang Stadium.
The Mustangs (5-12-1, 2-6-0 MAC Commonwealth) nearly took the lead 16 minutes into the first half when sophomore Thomas Taylor hit senior Reid Hawkins on a beautiful cross, but Hawkins' shot hit the crossbar. Senior Zachary Martin added another shot off of the rebound, but it soared high.
In the 25th minute, Stevenson had another chance at goal when Taylor dribbled through three Dutchmen before taking a shot, but Lebanon Valley goalkeeper Cam Avery was able to make the save.
Lebanon Valley (8-9, 5-3 MAC Commonwealth) took a 1-0 lead after 30 minutes of play when Matt Prince made a cross from the left side beyond senior goalkeeper Ryan Callinan, and Youseff Ouayakhaf knocked it in. Just 7:17 later, the Dutchmen scored again when Tyler Skye connected with Ian McGinnis in the middle of the box for the shot. The guests held a 2-0 advantage going into the half.
Just over 11 minutes into the second half, the hosts had yet another attempt at goal. Sophomore Jonathan Hart crossed the ball to classmate Matthew Paranczak who settled in the middle for a shot, but Avery tallied another save. Avery totaled five saves in the half, and seven in the game.
Midway through the second half, the Dutchmen attempted a breakaway and were awarded a penalty kick. Jake Herron extended the lead to 3-0 when his shot found the bottom, left corner of the net. The Dutchmen are 3-3 on penalty kicks this season.
With 1:35 left to play in the game, Easler capitalized on a failed clear attempt by Lebanon Valley, taking a shot from 20 yards out and cutting the deficit to 3-1. The last minute push fell short, and the Mustangs dropped their season finale.
Stevenson outshot the Dutchmen 18-17 while also holding an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Callinan totaled seven saves in the game.
The game marks the end of the career for Hawkins, Martin, Callinan, Andrew DeLuca, Logan McCarron, Chris McKneely, Calvin Granger, and Joe Lazzaro.
