Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Stevenson men's soccer team was held without a goal for the fifth-straight game as the Mustangs dropped its Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth contest opener versus Arcadia, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Easton Field.
The Mustangs (3-7-1, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth), who dropped their fourth-straight game, have gone 517:13 without a goal after totaling 14 in their first six games of the season.
Sophomore Thomas Taylor nearly scored his first goal of the season with in a header in the ninth minute following a corner kick by freshman Iliyas Mirza, but the shot went wide right.
Arcadia (7-3-1, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) got a lift from goalie Chris Watson in the opening half as Watson denied freshman Colin Horne and the rebound attempt by sophomore Andrew Catalana early in the game. Just over a minute later, Mirza connected again with Taylor on a corner kick, but the shot sailed high.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes as the Knights held a slight 6-5 edge in shots.
Just 1:31 into the second half, Bradley McKim gave the hosts a 1-0 advantage after firing a shot to the top-left corner of the net off of a pass from David Colombo. McKim scored both of Arcadia's goal, scoring his second with just 1:04 left in the game on a free kick just outside of the box.
Both teams totaled just four shots on goal, but the Knights outshot the Mustangs 9-4 in the second half and 15-9 for the game.
Stevenson returns to action on Tuesday, October 6 when the Mustangs host Lycoming in a MAC Commonwealth contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
