Mustangs Fall to No. 1 Messiah in MAC Commonwealth Title Rematch

Box Score

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Stevenson women's soccer team was just the third time in 17 games this season to score on No. 1 Messiah, but the Falcons scored four times in the second half and posted a 4-1 victory Tuesday evening at Shoemaker Field.

With the win, the Falcons (15-0-2, 7-0 MAC Commonwealth) claim the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament while the Mustangs (8-10, 5-2 MAC Commonwealth) are currently in a three-way tie for second. A win on Saturday would lock up the No. 2 seed for Stevenson.

After a scoreless first half, Messiah scored four-straight, including two in a 3:39 span. Conference leading scorer Nikki Elsaesser scored twice in the contest.

Senior Allie Ondrejcak scored her third of the year in the 86th minute as Stevenson avoided the shutout. The Falcons had posted 12-straight shutouts and 1,195 shutout minutes prior to Ondrejcak's goal.

Classmate Ashlyn Hawbaker was credited with the assist after her through ball to the 18-yard box set up Ondrejcak for a one touch.

Messiah outshot the Mustangs, 21-2 and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore Tiffany McKee totaled seven saves.

Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, October 31 when the Mustangs host a MAC Commonwealth contest versus Lebanon Valley on Senior Day beginning at 1:00 p.m.
