Box Score 2 BALTIMORE, Md. - Stevenson women's volleyball head coach Dave Trumbo picked up his 200th career victory as the Mustangs swept both John Hopkins and Bridgewater (Va.) Saturday in the Greg Giovannazzi Memorial Tournament hosted by Johns Hopkins.
The Mustangs (6-1) defeated the host Blue Jays 25-23, 25-20, 25-21 before picking up a 28-18, 25-16, 25-15 over the Eagles.
In game one versus John Hopkins (1-4), senior Samantha Perillo posted a match-high 22 digs while sophomore Sara Bollinger totaled 16 to go along with her 23 assists. Bollinger finished one dig shy of her career high set on Aug. 31 versus Haverford.
Sophomore Kristen Brooks and freshman Annika Schwartz combined for nine kills, 18 digs, two blocks and one service ace. The duo has accounted for over 45 percent of the teams kills.
The Blue Jays were led by Liz Wuerstle who totaled 11 kills and Anne Cohen who finished with 18 digs.
Versus Bridgewater (2-5) in game two, Schwartz totaled a career-high 17 kills to go along with five digs and three service aces. She has totaled at least five kills in all seven matches this season.
Meanwhile, Perillo added 10 digs and now has 1,954 career digs, 46 shy of 2,000. Perillo became the school's all-time leader a season ago on Sept. 14, 2013.
Junior Kara Anderson and freshman Deanna Bradbury combined for four service aces and three digs.
The Eagles were led by Nikki Snyder who finished with 12 digs and Abby Mills who added eight kills.
Trumbo is just the second coach at Stevenson to surpass 200 wins with the Mustangs. In eight years he has totaled 201-59 record for a .773 win percentage.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, September 10 when the Mustangs travel to Lebanon Valley for the first conference match of the year. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
