Mustangs Blank Catholic, Battle Cardinals to 0-0 Double Overtime Tie

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Freshman Katelynn Giannacini posted her first career shutout and totaled a career-high five saves as the Mustangs held their opponent scoreless for the third time this season in a 0-0 double overtime tie versus Catholic Wednesday evening at Mustang Stadium.

The Mustangs (2-3-2) are unbeaten in two of their last four games but have been held scoreless over the last 413:22. It is the team's second double overtime this season and second in the last four games.

Stevenson, who has only dropped back-to-back games at home once in four years, is now 20-10-9 in four seasons at Mustang Stadium.

It was nearly a statistically even game as the Mustangs held a 13-10 advantage in shots after outshooting the Cardinals 3-0 in the overtime periods. Stevenson also led 5-3 in corner kicks while both teams totaled seven fouls.

Catholic (5-0-2) has only allowed three goals this season and one over the last 400 minutes of play.

Lexi Halperin totaled six saves for the Cardinals.

Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, September 20 when the Mustangs host a non-conference contest versus Frostburg State beginning at 5:00 p.m.
