Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. - Stevenson field hockey freshman Judi Neff scored her first career goal to cut the Mustangs' deficit to one, but they could not get the equalizer over the final 18 minutes as McDaniel held on for a 2-1 non-conference victory Tuesday at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium.
Stevenson (5-2), who is off to the best start in school history, had its three-game win streak stopped while suffering its sixth-straight loss to the Green Terror. The two teams have met every year since 2009 with four of those games being decided by just one goal.
McDaniel (4-2) outshot the Mustangs 15-9, including 11-1 in the first half as it built a 2-0 halftime lead. Bailey Vohs scored her third goal of the season less than 15 minutes into the game off an assist from Rachel Cressman on a penalty corner.
Both of the Green Terror's goals came off corners as Annie Sencindiver netted her second of the year with just 1:06 remaining in the half on an assist from Sara Reynolds.
Neff's first career goal off an assist from senior Alison Kagel with 17:18 left in the game cut McDaniel's lead in half, but that would be all that Stevenson could muster despite totaling twice as many shots as the Green Terror, 8-4.
Calla White made six saves for McDaniel, five of which came in the second half, while sophomore Gabriella Brooks had a season-high nine for the Mustangs.
Stevenson hosts a non-conference contest with Shenandoah on Saturday night at Mustang Stadium where the team has won three-straight and is 3-1 this season. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
