OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The No. 17 Stevenson field hockey team opened the 2026 campaign in dominant fashion, defeating the Washington College Shorewomen, 5-0, Tuesday night at Owings Mills East.
The Mustangs wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as Tori Martz found the back of the cage at the 10:24 mark of the first quarte off a ball from Taylor Valoczki. Just under three minutes later, Gracyn Catalano doubled the lead off an assist from Coco Wallace at 13:11.
Catalano struck again early in the second quarter with an assist from Hailey Mertz, scoring just under three minutes into the frame to extend the Stevenson lead to 3-0. Sydney Aylward then added her first collegiate goal off a feed from Lauren Schulz with under four minutes remaining in the first half, sending the Mustangs into the break with a 4-0 advantage.
Stevenson capped the scoring in the final minute of the contest, as Martz found the back of the cage off a feed from Valoczki to seal the victory.
Catalano and Martz led the Mustangs with four points on two goals, as Aylward and Valoczki slotted two, while Mertz, Schulz, and Wallace recorded one assist. Jordan Vradenburgh and Ollie Winterle both spent time in cage with no goals against.
The Mustangs return to action Saturday when they host Arcadia University at Owings Mills East. First touch is set for noon.
