WESTMINSTER, Md. – The No. 14 Stevenson field hockey team traveled to McDaniel on Wednesday evening, earning a 4-0 victory over the Green Terror. With the win, the Mustangs improve to 3-0 on the season, with all three victories coming via shutout.
Kailen Hibshman opened the scoring for Stevenson at the 15-minute mark, converting during a penalty corner opportunity with assists from Sydney Aylward and Lauren Schulz. The Mustangs carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Schulz extended the Stevenson lead in the third quarter, finding the back of the cage off a pass from Aylward after inserting the penalty corner. Monica Druckemiller then added the Mustangs' third goal of the evening during another penalty corner opportunity, inserted by Gracyn Catalano.
In the final frame, Catalano inserted another penalty corner, setting up Aylward for the final goal of the evening as the Mustangs secured the 4-0 victory.
Stevenson dominated offensively, outshooting McDaniel 21-0 overall and 13-0 on goal. Aylward led the Mustangs with four points on a goal and two assists, while Schulz added three points. Catalano, Druckemiller and Hibshman each recorded two points.
Goalkeepers Jordan Vradenburgh and Ollie Winterle each saw time in the cage for Stevenson, combining for the team's third consecutive shutout.
The Mustangs return home to Owings Mills East in preparation to host Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday. The contest is slated for noon, followed by the team's senior day celebration
