Box Score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Senior Meaghan Williams converted a penalty kick with less than a minute remaining in the first overtime as the Stevenson women's soccer team defeated Arcadia in both teams Commonwealth Conference opener Saturday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.

The win for the Mustangs (3-5-3, 1-0 MAC) snaps their nine-game winless streak while also marking their first win in three all-time meetings versus Arcadia (8-3, 0-1 MAC). All three games have been decided in overtime with the first two ending in scoreless ties.

Stevenson has now played five-straight overtime games and six in the last eight. It was the fourth one-goal game this season and third-straight.

In the 63rd minute, the Mustangs had their best scoring opportunity of the game when senior Jamie Matlock beat her defender to a long ball and drew the keeper from the net but her shot hooked just wide left.

After dominating the overtime period statistically, Stevenson drew a foul in the box awarding them a penalty kick. Williams netted her fourth career game-winning goal as she beat the keeper to the lower right corner.

Freshman Tiffany McKee posted her first shutout with three saves after sharing a shutout in the season opener.

Stevenson returns to action on Tuesday, October 7 when the Mustangs host Hood in a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
