Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Highlighted by six different point scorers, including the first career point by freshman Destiny Ferguson, the Stevenson women's soccer team kept Alvernia off the scoreboard with a 4-0 victory in a Commonwealth Conference contest on senior day Friday evening at Mustang Stadium.
The win was the fifth shutout for the Mustangs (7-5-4, 5-0-1) in the last six games, all conference contests. It is the eighth shutout the team has posted all season. More importantly, Stevenson keeps pace with Messiah for the top spot in the conference standings.
It was the second game this year that Stevenson has held its opponent without a shot. Meanwhile, the Mustangs totaled a season-high 31 shots, including 18 in the first half.
Sophomore Alexis Siejack, the team's leading scorer a season ago, scored her fifth goal of the season and first since September 23 to give the hosts the early advantage. Junior Allie Ondrejcak dished out her team leading fifth assist on the free kick from 25 yards out.
Stevenson would add three second half goals, including one by freshman Kellen Wittman, the team's leading scorer with six. She is one of 11 goal scorers this season for the Mustangs and one of five freshmen. Her classmate Ferguson picked up her first collegiate point with the assist.
Ondrejcak scored her third goal of the season, all coming in the last five games, on a shot from 25 yards out. All three goals for the defensive midfielder have come from long distance.
Senior Molly Malloy followed with her second 30-yard goal of the season in the 89th minute on an assist from sophomore Jordan Porretto.
Facing minimal action, freshman Tiffany McKee posted her third shut-out and allowed zero goals for the seventh time this season. Her six wins already ranks 10th all-time in school history.
Margaret Burnett lead the Crusaders (5-13, 1-5 MAC) with eight saves, with five of them coming in the first half.
In pregame ceremonies, the Mustangs honored its four seniors, Malloy, Kaylie Yapps, Meaghan Williams and Jamie Matlock who are playing in their final season with the team.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, October 29 when the Mustangs travel to Lycoming in a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 3:00 p.m.
