Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa. - Sophomore Rosemarie Neiva scored twice, but two goals in the final 2:16, including the game-winner with 17 seconds remaining by No. 14 Lebanon Valley lifted the host Dutchmen to a 3-2 victory over the Stevenson field hockey team Wednesday afternoon at Arnold Field.
With two games remaining, the Mustangs (10-7, 2-3 MAC) are currently tied for the fifth and final spot in the 2014 Commonwealth Conference Championship with Albright. The two teams will meet on Saturday.
Neiva put Stevenson on the board 7:14 into the contest after pairing up with senior Caitlin Dempsey on a breakaway. With the assist, Dempsey moves two more closer to tying the all-time record set by Dawn McFarland '04.
A second goal by Neiva gave the Mustangs a 2-0 advantage at the break. Neiva has scored six goals in the last eight games.
Two goals ties the Dutchmen's (14-1, 5-0 MAC) largest deficit all season. Lebanon Valley was down two goals against Misericordia before falling in penalty strokes.
Kristen Garman scored for Lebanon Valley in the 45th minute to cut the deficit to one. With the Mustangs defense keeping the Dutchmen out of the circle, the hosts were forced to call a timeout with 3:27 remaining.
Following the timeout, the Dutchmen earned a penalty corner and Brittany Fleisher tied the game at two on an assist from Garman.
Dempsey had the ensuining the shot but it was knocked away by goalie Kendra Moll. Just over a minute later Maddie Fox scored the game-winner on a second asssit by Garman.
Lebanon Valley outshot the Mustangs 19-8, including 10-3 in the second half while also holding a 15-5 advantage in penalty corners.
Moll finished with three saves while sophomore Gabriella Brooks totaled nine. Brooks has totaled 30 saves in the past four games.
Stevenson will host Albright on Saturday, October 25 with the winner to take at least sole possession of fifth-place in the conference standings.
